What’s a Fashion Icon? And What should the criteria be one?

Fashion Icon Definition
Wikipedia definition:
"A fashion icon or fashion leader is a influential person who introduces new styles which spread throughout fashion culture and become part of fashion. They initiate a new style which others may follow. They may be famous personalities such as political leaders, celebrities, or sports personalities." Wikipedia
Collins Dictionary:
"A person or thing that is very well known as being highly fashionable" Collins Dictionary
Merriam-Webster:
"A person or thing widely admired especially for having great influence or significance in a particular sphere. a civil rights icon. an actor and fashion icon." Merriam-Webster
What do you think the criteria should be?
I agree with the wikipedia and merriam-webster definition. A fashion icon should have a huge influence and actually create a trend(s).
I've noticed that a celebrity would wear like one unique outfit and people would label them a fashion icon. And then we never hear anything about them again nor do we see any influence from said outfit. That's not a fashion icon to me. I guess it's about longevity for me as well.
I think the label "Fashion Icon" needs to stop being thrown around like parsley.
Let me know what you think.
